The minister stressed that Serbia views nuclear energy as a potential pillar of long-term security, necessary to support the accelerated development of high technology.

“The construction of a nuclear power plant would strengthen Serbia's energy security and provide enough energy for the growing needs, especially with the opening of new factories, science and technology parks, and data centers, which are significant energy consumers,” said Đedović Handanović.

She added that strategic cooperation with countries that have experience in this area enables the necessary transfer of knowledge and technological standards for the safe operation of future plants.

“Such cooperation enables the transfer of knowledge, best practices and technological standards, which are necessary for the safe and efficient operation of nuclear facilities. Through partnerships with experienced states and companies, Serbia can ensure that the development of nuclear energy is in line with the highest international standards of safety and environmental protection,” she said.
