Vinča Institute and EDF Sign Memorandum of Cooperation to Boost Nuclear Expertise in Serbia
The Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences (Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences) and the French energy company Électricité de France (EDF) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) during the World Nuclear Exhibition (WNE) in Paris. The memorandum was signed by Director Dr. Slavko Dimović on behalf of the Vinča Institute and by Vakisasai Ramany, Senior Executive Vice President for International Nuclear Development, representing EDF.
The agreement outlines joint activities focusing on:
- Scientific research cooperation.
- Professional training and human resources development.
- International exchange programs.
- Public communication regarding nuclear topics.
EDF is set to support the participation of Vinča Institute experts in training sessions, summer schools, and research projects, as well as facilitate the exchange of experiences in nuclear energy and the development of new technologies.
A key partner in the realization of the educational programs will be the International Institute of Nuclear Energy (I2EN), founded by EDF, which will contribute to joint academic projects, student exchanges, and expert visits by researchers.
“This agreement represents a continuation of the Serbian-French friendship tradition and an important step towards strengthening the Institute’s international cooperation and knowledge exchange with one of the world leaders in nuclear energy,” stated the Director of the Vinča Institute. “Cooperation with EDF opens new opportunities for research, education, and the development of Serbia’s nuclear energy capacities.”
By signing this memorandum, the Vinča Institute further solidifies its role in developing safe, sustainable, and responsible nuclear energy expertise in Serbia in the context of desired devopment of civilian nuclear programe.
