"Nuclear Serbia" - Digital Advocacy Strategy for the Revival of the Nuclear Industry
The "NUCLEAR SERBIA" project operates in the context of a fundamental shift in the country's energy policy. In November 2024, the Serbian parliament adopted amendments to the Energy Law, which officially lifted a 35-year moratorium on the construction of nuclear power plants that had been in place since 1989.
This legislative action not only annulled the ban but also created a new regulatory framework encompassing safety standards and environmental requirements, as well as providing for the establishment of a Directorate for Nuclear Energy Development and the development of a Program for the Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy in partnership with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The "NUCLEAR SERBIA" platform is already addressing tasks related to the consolidation of information and expert opinions in this strategically important sector, creating a favorable political and public environment to overcome skepticism (demystification) and restore trust in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
The "NUCLEAR SERBIA" platform implements five key functions of digital advocacy: Information, Opinion Expression, Facilitation, Organization, and Evaluation.
